When Grasp Yaksan was studying a sutra, certainly one of his college students mentioned to him, “Why do you learn the sutras your self while telling individuals to not learn the sutras?” The grasp answered, “I’m simply protecting my eyes.” The scholar requested, “Might I exploit the sutras simply as you do?” The grasp mentioned, “You need to see by even a cow’s cover.”
Scholar: “What did the grasp imply by ‘see by even a cow’s cover’?”
Grasp: “If there occurs to be even a single factor you may’t see by, you may’t learn the sutras.”
Commentary:
Studying the sutras is fighting black ink and white paper if one can’t see by them from cowl to cowl with out touching them.
